Nirmala Sitharaman (born 18 August 1959) is an Indian politician and economist serving as the Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs in the Government of India since 2019. She is a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a member of the Rajya Sabha.

Sitharaman completed her studies in economics at Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College in Tiruchirappalli and subsequently obtained a master’s degree in economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi.
